The organization:

Watershed Alliance of SW Washington is a 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit located in Vancouver, WA. Our mission is “To bring together and engage the community to protect and enhance the natural environment of SW Washington’s watersheds.” For the past ten years we have been engaging the community through on the ground work and education around the topic of watershed health.  


Lead our ongoing programs with assistance from other staff: Neighborhood Grants, Outreach/Education and Stewardship.  In addition, position will work closely with the Executive Director to manage our new Don’t Drip and Drive Program

Location:  Vancouver, WA

Non-exempt position:

  • Average 25-30 hours week, flexible schedule
  • Typical office hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.  Some evenings and weekends required

  • Salary: $15-$17/hour 

Position closes: March 12th 5:00pm


Don’t Drip and Drive:

  • Event planning and day of logistics
  • Volunteer recruitment and management
  • Mechanic shop recruitment
  • Note: Not necessary to have automotive experience

 Neighborhood Grants Program:

  • Facilitate Grant application process and tracking, must be very organized
  • Work with neighborhoods to promote and coordinate grant opportunities


  • Lead and coordinate large and small-scale volunteer restoration projects
  • Recruit, manage and lead hundreds of volunteers at environmental restoration events throughout the year (tree plantings, invasive removal and litter clean-ups)
  • Outreach to build the number of stewardship events/activities

Outreach and education:

  • Tabling at events and working at school events around watershed education
  • Speaking at Neighborhood Association meetings promoting all our programs

Staff support for Project Restore and Backyard Habitat Programs:

  • Assist in door-to-door outreach for our private property restoration programs and Backyard Habitat program as needed 


  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in one or all
    • Event planning
    • Recruiting and managing volunteers
    • Public speaking
    • On the ground restoration experience (either as a volunteer or employee)
    • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Reliable transportation, a valid WA driver’s license, current car insurance
  • Clean driving record
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Like and be comfortable being outdoors in any kind of weather and on uneven terrain
  • Able to work well with people of diverse ages and backgrounds
  • Comfortable doing door to door outreach (always in pairs)
  • Multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting 

Additional Preferred Experience in:

  • Salesforce, Mailchimp or Vertical Response and/or WordPress
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Basic native plant knowledge
  • Knowledge and interest in equity diversity and inclusion practice
